Macedonia Recreation Center Celebrates 25 Years of Health, Fitness, and Community
The Macedonia Recreation Center — affectionately known as the Mac Rec — is celebrating 25 years of serving the community with a full week of special events, giveaways, and family fun.
It all began on November 16, 1998, when city officials and community members gathered at Longwood Park for a groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of construction on what would become one of Macedonia’s most beloved landmarks. After more than a year of hard work and anticipation, the grand opening was held on February 27, 2000, with the facility officially opening its doors to the public the next morning at 6 a.m.
Since then, the 56,000-square-foot facility has grown into a vibrant hub for wellness and connection. Today, the Mac Rec offers a wide range of amenities designed to help residents achieve a healthy and active lifestyle — including a fitness turf, lap and activity pools, sauna, steam room, hot tub, indoor track, powerlifting platforms, updated locker rooms, and a variety of weight and cardio equipment.
