A dangerous and potentially record-setting heatwave is impacting Ohio this week. ☀️🌡️

To help residents stay safe, the City of Macedonia will open the Macedonia Recreation Center (1494 E. Aurora Road) as a Cooling Center for any Macedonia resident who needs a place to escape the extreme heat. You do not need to be a member of the Mac Rec — just bring your ID to show proof of residency. No pets allowed.

Cooling Center Hours:

• Tuesday, June 30: 5:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, July 1: 5:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Thursday, July 2: 5:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Friday, July 3: 5:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Please note: Cooling Center guests are not permitted to use Mac Rec amenities (workout & pool areas) due to liability reasons. An area on the first floor near the pool table/ping pong table will be designated for Cooling Center guests, and chairs will be available for anyone coming in to cool off.

Please check on family members, neighbors, and others who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, and seek air-conditioned spaces whenever possible. Stay safe, Macedonia!
